Bridgett L. Brown-Burkes, known professionally as Bridgett Laprice, is a mental health professional, author, speaker, and advocate dedicated to creating space for honest conversations about healing, identity, and personal growth.

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Bridgett’s passion for helping others grew from her personal experiences, her faith, and her deep desire to see individuals overcome life’s challenges and walk confidently in their purpose. Her work encourages people to reflect on their experiences, ask difficult questions, and embrace growth with grace.

Bridgett earned her Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies from Bethune-Cookman University, a historically Black university (HBCU) known for its strong legacy of leadership, scholarship, and service. She later continued her academic and spiritual development at South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary, where she earned two master’s degrees: a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling.

She currently serves as a Registered Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, providing therapeutic support to individuals navigating complex mental health challenges. Her work is grounded in compassion, trauma-informed care, emotional awareness, and helping individuals rebuild stability and confidence in their lives.

Bridgett is also currently pursuing her PhD in Forensic Psychology at Walden University, where her research interests focus on mental health literacy and improving understanding between behavioral health professionals and systems that intersect with mental health.

In addition to her clinical work, Bridgett is a passionate author. She is the creator of two children’s books, “Her Good Mornings” and “Her Good Nights,” inspired by her youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of two. Her daughter’s journey inspired Bridgett to establish the Toot-N-Aussie Foundation, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness, support, and resources for families navigating autism.

She is also the author of the NEW book, Forgiving HER: Be and Become, Grace for the Woman I Had to Be. This book invites women into a journey of reflection, healing, and self-discovery, encouraging them to extend grace to the woman they once were while embracing who they are becoming.

Through her writing, speaking, and advocacy work, Bridgett shares messages centered on emotional healing, self-discovery, faith, and empowerment. At the heart of her message is a belief she often shares:

“Everyone has questions, but no one wants to talk about it.”

Through her work, Bridgett strives to open the door to those conversations, helping individuals reflect honestly, heal intentionally, and live with purpose.

Above all, Bridgett values faith and family. She is a wife, a mother of two daughters, and a proud grandmother who believes life’s greatest lessons often come through love, growth, and personal transformation.

“Make It Anyway” – Bridgett B

“Make It Anyway” is a song written and recorded during a time in Bridgett’s life when she was learning to believe in the very words she was singing. While the message speaks about perseverance and pushing forward despite life’s challenges, the song reflects a deeper personal journey; choosing faith, strength, and determination even in moments of uncertainty.

Today, the song stands as a reminder that growth often begins before we fully feel ready.

"Sometimes the first step toward becoming who we are meant to be is simply deciding to make it anyway."-Bridgett Laprice
